Created from an antique priest stole embroidered 75 years earlier by the grandmother of this deacon!

Orphreys made from a "tattered on the edges" stole.

The orphreys on this deacon stole were once an altar superfrontal!

POSITIVELY REPURPOSED?

Those beautiful old embroideries don't have to go to waste!  We can remove them from an old (and possibly tattered or stained) vestment and create a beautiful new vestment.

I have been able to preserve some 100+ year-old handmade embroideries .  These were created by artisans and craftsmen and made with such love but the vestments they were on were worn and tattered.  By "Re-Purposing" this beautiful artwork, we honor those craftspeople and can be effective stewards of their offerings.

A very worn stole was completely remade on new silk.

Would you believe someone cut a chunk out of a tapestry altar frontal?  There was still lots of usable fabric, carrying the past into the present and future.
