TELLING HIS STORY

I am a vestment maker, an organist & pianist, a teacher, an altar guild junkie – all things involved in helping to tell God’s story. But that is only part of who I am. God calls us each to live His story and that involves so much more. That involves my life and the lives of every believer. You see, I help tell God’s story to keep it alive. He wants us to worship Him and I am helping to keep that worship alive. In this world filled with distractions and noise, it is easy to be lured by people and things that bombard us with “more interesting options”. But God is waiting, quietly most of the time, for each of us. So, through our worship of Him, we tell His story with sights and sounds and smells. And we take the opportunity to thank Him, to ask for help or healing, to plead with Him for strength, comfort, or courage. But why is this worship necessary? Certainly not to puff up God – He knows who He is.

God asks that we live His story. And to live it in the world. Our worship together as a group teaches us, strengthens us, arms us with the necessary knowledge to go out into the world and share this love, to meet people where they are, to do as Jesus commanded us to do. How can we ‘feed the hungry, clothe the naked, & heal the sick’ if we don’t have the love and strength and courage of God to do it? How can we share God’s story if we don’t know it (& the Christmas Eve tableau with little kids dressed as shepherds and beautiful music doesn’t give us the whole story!) In our worship, we learn the ‘why’, the ‘who’, and the ‘how’, and we glorify God for giving us this immeasurable gift. That’s why we worship. That’s why we work to tell God’s story in ways that reach everyone. That’s why we use colors & textures & sounds along with the spoken word. Being a part of God’s story help us to reach out to those who don’t feel they are a part. God’s Extraordinary Story is for everyone, especially the hungry, the naked, and the sick! Tell Everyone!!
